Lowe's W.C.F.  To Stage Event in Alabama's Port City
Mobile's Historic Battleship U.S.S. Alabama Memorial Park to provide backdrop

MOBILE, Ala.---The USS Alabama Memorial Park will be the site for the fourth
of five Lowe's Home Improvement Warehouse World Championship Fishing events
September 29  through October 1. Some of the top names in professional
fishing including Roland Martin, Davy Hite, Mark Davis, Gary Klein and
Alton Jones will call Mobile home during the three day event that is
completely new to tournament fishing.

The anglers will fish each day on the Mobile River Delta from
approximately 6 a.m. until Noon. Following their morning on the water,
they'll return to Battleship Park to participate in the weigh-in. At the
conclusion of the weigh-in the anglers will move to pit row to prepare
their crafts for the boat-handling aspect of the event.

Each driver will take their boat on a closed obstacle course, that
stresses handling ability rather than high-end speeds, and battle the clock
to obtain the best possible time. The winner of the boat handling portion
of the competition will be the person with the best combined time after
three days.

The fishing portion of the event is sponsored by the Bass Anglers
Sportsman Society (B.A.S.S.), the world's largest fishing organization.
Boat handling is sanctioned by the American Power Boating Association
(APBA).

First place overall will pay $50,000. The winner of each portion of
the competition will take home $25,000 out of an overall purse of $225,000.
The overall winner of the event will be the person with the highest score
after the two segments are combined. Fishing counts for 60 percent and boat
handling 40 percent of the overall score

"Mobile offers a great location for Lowe's World Championship
Fishing," said Lowe's W.C.F. Director of Competition Don Corkran. "The
Mobile Delta is one of the top fisheries in the state of Alabama and
Battleship Park offers an excellent location for the weigh-in and outdoor
festival."

In the three previous events this summer three different anglers
have taken home the crown of overall champion, with Alton Jones winning the
most recent event in Richmond, Virginia. Mark Davis and Gary Klein have also
notched wins this season.

Fans will have an opportunity to meet their favorite anglers at
Lowe's Meet the Pros Night. The event will occur from 6-7:30 p.m. on
Wednesday, September 27, at the Lowe's Home Improvement Warehouse located
at 7760 Airport Boulevard in Mobile. The anglers will be available to give
tips, autographs and pose for photos.

In addition to the weigh-in and boat-handling fans have the
opportunity to enjoy the outdoor festival that is held in conjunction with
the event. Admission to all events is free.
