B.A.S.S.' Newest Winner is Riding in Style
Larry Thomas Claims New Fishing Rig

Some people pay a lot of money for their first bass boat.  Larry Thomas
just filled out a card.

Thomas is the winner of the 2000 BASSMASTER Tour Magazine Sweepstakes.  His
prize is a 2000 Ranger® Cherokee, fully rigged with a Mercury® 115-hp
outboard motor, Humminbird® Wide Paramount depth finder, MotorGuide®
trolling motor, ACDelco batteries, and a supply of Pennzoil® Marine Oil.

Thomas, 33, a machinist from Athens, AL, received an entry card for the
Sweepstakes in an issue of BASSMASTER magazine, the premier publication of
the Bass Anglers Sportsman Society (B.A.S.S., Inc.).  He filled out the
entry card and brought it to the Alabama Big Kmart BASSMASTER Top 150 bass
tournament on Lake Wheeler at the Decatur Boat Harbor.  As he watched
fishing's biggest stars weigh their catches, Thomas dropped his card in the
official entry box and went on his way.

Thomas' wife, Kay answered the phone when a B.A.S.S., Inc. representative
called to tell her that Larry had won the boat and accessories.  She called
Larry at work to let him know.

"When Kay called, I let out a pretty good yell," said Thomas.  "One of my
coworkers heard me and thought that my wife was pregnant."

Thomas says he learned to fish from his father, and is now passing on the
tradition.  He, his father, and his son regularly go fishing together on
Lake Wheeler, the very place where Larry won.  His house in Athens is
"right next door," as he says, to the popular fishery that has hosted many
BASSMASTER Tournament Trail events.

Larry and Kay will be coming to B.A.S.S. headquarters in Montgomery, AL on
Monday, July 10 at 1:00 PM to claim their prize.  Thomas owns an aluminum
john-boat that he uses on Lake Wheeler, but he says his new Ranger will be
"a big step up."  He said he looks forward to being able to reach the more
distant

Larry is a relatively new member of B.A.S.S., having joined only six months
ago.  Still, he has been fishing for over 27 years.  This new boat will
allow him to enjoy his favorite pastime in a whole new way.

"I'm thrilled to death," he said.  "I just can't wait to get in it and go."
