Mercury Racing Rouen Race Website Live

Fond du Lac, WI -- Mercury Racing will again be offering live coverage of the
'24 Hours of Rouen,' the legendary French endurance powerboat race held each
year April 30-May 1, via Mercury Marine's website:
www.mercurymarine.com/rouen2000. Mercury Racing made history last year, being
the first ever to bring the 24-hour event live to race fans worldwide over
the Internet.  The site was activated April 25.

The 2000 '24 Hours of Rouen' website will again feature hourly real-time
updates and photography during the race, but offers more extensive background
information about the race and the people involved. The new features this
year include race history, Team Mercury driver bios, a photo gallery, history
on Rouen and the surrounding area and a complete recap of last year's race.
The 37th annual running of the event begins 10:00 a.m. (CDT) Sunday, April
30.

Rouen tests both man and machine as boats run non-stop, with the exception of
fuel stops and driver exchanges, for 24 hours. Mercury has powered more
first-place finishers at Rouen than any other engine builder, typically
dominating the top ten positions.

This year's race will feature three boats powered by Mercury Racing's new
OptiMaxTM 200 XS outboard, the first-ever high performance low-emissions
engine featuring Mercury's revolutionary OptiMax direct injection technology.
OptiMax provides unmatched fuel efficiency and meets the U.S. Environmental
Protection Agency (EPA) air quality standards for 2006. Mercury debuted the
OptiMax low-emissions technology at the 1997 Rouen race, finishing fourth &
fifth overall, behind only Mercury Race power, and ahead of all other
competitive outboards. A race version of the OptiMax 200 XS outboard debuted
in Rouen last year, powering the multi-national team of Amaury Jousseaume of
France, Kay Marshall of Australia, and Richard Hearn of the United States, to
third place overall, finishing ahead of all S2000 Race outboard powered boats
and a mere four laps behind OMC S3000 powered 'Team RMSM.'

Mercury is the only manufacturer to accept the low-e challenge at Rouen, not
only finishing the grueling race to prove the durability of this
revolutionary technology, but placing high to prove so-called "clean" engines
have a place -- and a future -- on the racecourse.

Visit the Rouen website at www.mercurymarine.com/rouen2000 for complete
information on the teams and the event.
