EMERGENCY MEETING NOTICE
WHAT: SFWMD emergency public meeting to
discuss approaches and consequences of immediately lowering level of Lake
Okeechobee and to seek consensus on possible options for action in the next
few months
WHEN: Wednesday, April 19, 2000, 9 a.m.
WHERE: SFWMD headquarters auditorium,
3301 Gun Club Road, West Palm Beach

WHY: Lake Okeechobee needs lower water
levels over a period of time to restore its health to support plant and animal
habitat. The South Florida Water Management District must also ensure the lake
has sufficient water supplies so enough are available for those who depend on
water from the lake to meet their needs. This meeting will allow all affected
interested parties to participate in this discussion.
